After leaving Oxford University in 1980, Steve accepted a position with Du Pont ‘carrying the bag’ as salesman in their Medical Division. After 2 successful years he was moved to the European HQ in Germany where he held a number of positions from Business Analyst to Product and Marketing Manager.
Having driven the strategic restructuring of his product range, Steve moved on to run a $100m division within their Printing and Publishing business. Steve was then approached by London International Group and returned to the UK as European Commercial Director for their Surgical gloves Division, quickly moving to the position of Managing Director for EMEA and Asia Pacific. Following a merger with Seton Scholl Healthcare, Steve took over as MD of SSL International for Northern and Eastern Europe, a broad portfolio including FMCG, Shoe shops and pharmacy sales along with keeping responsibility for the enlarged Medical Division.
Steve was part of an MBO Team that bought the Surgical Gloves division from SSL, taking Regent Medical private. The business then merged with Molnlycke Health Care and Steve took over the global Regent operation of some 2,200 people, very much leading the business from the front across a wide range of geographies and cultures, including manufacturing operations in Malaysia. Steve was also tasked with leading the integration of the sales and marketing operations for the newly formed company in Europe.
In 2007 Steve decided to leave Regent Medical and now applies his considerable business experience, together with his lively, forthright style to executive coaching and mentoring and running elements of Chartside’s Leadership Development Programmes.
